Qatar’s Social Development Center has implemented a workflow automation system from Raya, which it hopes will improve the delivery of welfare services to its most needy citizens. All tasks carried out at the centre have been automated as part of the system, which is aimed at improving efficiency and streamlining processes. Using the system, a database has been created containing details of all those registered at the centre — which provides financial support, medical services and educational services. “Raya has extensive experience in implementing workflow au- tomation solutions for a number of organisations in the public and private sector in the Arab world, which prompted us to aw- ard this project to them,” said Amal El Manay, manager of the Social Development Center. He said one of the most important parts of the system is the online support feature which guides employees and instructs them on how to use the applications. El Manay said the shift from paper-based transactions towards electronic transfer of information should increase employee productivity, by focusing on their core responsibilities in providing social services. “The project is part of Social Development Center’s strategy to develop a modern work system that effectively meets changing requirements, thus enabling us to provide faster and cost-effective services to the public,” he explained. “We are glad that Raya has been able to implement the project within the prescribed timeframe,” he added. Last December, Raya won a contract to put 101 services online at the Qatar Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture. The firm has eight months to put services from 27 different departments online as part of the Government’s drive to grow e-government services.
