Tadawul, the booming Saudi Arabian Stock Market, has deployed an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution from Oracle. Faced with a growing need for more reliable acc- ess to real-time data, Tadawul chose Oracle’s E-business suite to manage its back-office operations — and implemented the software in under 45 days. As part of its comprehensive strategy to improve operational efficiency, the Saudi Arabian Stock Market, launched as Tadawul in October 2001, said it was essential to quickly choose and go live with a business software solution for ERP. “We selected Oracle E-Business Suite, which improved our access to real-time data, allowing us to enhance the flow of information between departments, making the entire business more efficient and further impr- oving our service to customers,” said Abdullah Al-Suweilmy, Tadawul’s general manager. The first phase, which comprises Oracle E-business financial and material management (supply chain) modules, went live last month. A second phase is being planned, to be rolled out in the first quarter of this year, which could potentially include customer resource management (CRM), payroll and human resource (HR) modules. Tadawul represents a critical win for Oracle. The software giant said its track record in training and supporting end-users proved influential. And it also claimed that the speed of the implementation was unprecedented. “Tadawul’s swift and successful implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite — the new system was rolled out in less than 45 days — is considered the fastest Oracle E-Business financial implementation in Saudi Arabia and one of the fastest implementations in the world,” Abdul Rahman Al Theheiban, Oracle Saudi Arabia’s managing director, told IT Weekly. “By educating and providing ongoing support to its staff, Tadawul has been able to maximise the benefits that the Oracle solution delivers,” he added. Al Theheiban also said he anticipated similar wins for Oracle in Saudi’s e-government sector in the near future. “Our implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite by an experienced Saudi team, complemented by the expertise of the Oracle Consulting group in the region, has proved that ERP projects can be rapidly rolled out for fast results and increased return on investment,” said Tawfege Al-Utagey, Tadawul’s director of IT.
