Maxtor has upgraded its line of external hard disk drives with the launch of its new OneTouch III models. Due to hit the market across the region this month, these storage solutions offer capacities from 100GB to one terabyte (1000 GB), as well as packing in automated back-up and restore capabilities for both PC and Mac users. New software tools supplied with each of the firm’s new III products offer users the ability to synchronise data between two or more computers and a ‘System Rollback’ feature that helps return PC systems to a healthier state after a spyware attack. “The OneTouch III family reflects the company's continued commitment to deliver advanced and innovative storage solutions that cater to growing consumer demands driven by an increasing level of awareness for the need for easy to use, reliable, scalable, portable & affordable personal storage solutions," stated Rajeev Mukul, Maxtor Middle East & Africa’s general manager. In an effort to meet the needs of mainstream, creative and business professionals, Maxtor is offering its OneTouch III drives with dual interfaces – both FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 – so that all users can quickly and easily backup photos, music and data. For the specific home PC market however, a USB 2.0-only interface model will also be offered, which will provide basic file-level backup capabilities. Meanwhile a Maxtor OneTouch III featuring a triple interface will be available before the end of March. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price for its new OneTouch III family ranges from US $155 for the 100GB USB 2.0-only version, to $429 for its 500GB triple interface solution and further still to $919 for its one terabyte OneTouch III Turbo Edition product.
