Kodak is giving regional photo enthusiasts the chance to capture their special moments with what it claims is the world’s first dual lens digital camera – the V570. The firm’s new five-megapixel camera features two Schneider-Krunznach C- Variogon lenses: a 23mm wide-angle lens and an above average 5x optical zoom lens. This is in contrast to the firm’s previous $380 five-megapixel V530 model, which featured a single lens and a 3x optical zoom. According to Kodak, its V570 lets users easily move between both lenses depending on how much zoom their looking for. This means users won’t have to press a button to switch between lenses, as this will be done automatically. “Today’s picture takers expect high-performance features in an attractive package. Kodak is first to give them a coveted but previously unavailable ultra-wide angle lens in a pocket-size camera,” stated Mary Hadley, the general manager of Kodak’s consumer digital imaging group. “Capturing high quality photos with maximum ease of use are at the top of people’s lists when buying a new digital camera. By delivering on these needs in a completely new way, the EasyShare V570 camera pushes the boundaries of innovative design for ultra-compact cameras,” added Hadley. The Easy Share V570 features a 2.5-inch LCD screen, 32Mbytes of internal memory and a SD memory card slot for extra storage. The camera also boasts an automatic red-eye reduction feature, built-in image stabiliser and 22 scene modes, including a panoramic mode that lets users take in a 180-degree vista with just three shots. The $399 V570 will make its regional debut during this month’s Dubai Shopping Festival 2006 and will be in stores across the region by the end of the month.
