Sky sets server targets

UAE-based system builder Sky Electronics is confident that its recently launched server assembly operation will deal with more than 100 unique customers during 2006. Offering a build-to-order assembly service, Sky is looking to sell AMD-based servers to solution providers across the Middle East and parts of Africa.

UAE-based system builder Sky Electronics is confident that its recently launched server assembly operation will deal with more than 100 unique customers during 2006. Offering a build-to-order assembly service, Sky is looking to sell AMD-based servers to solution providers across the Middle East and parts of Africa. Raz Sobhani, regional manager Middle East and North Africa at Sky, explained: “We are offering a range of servers that empower and enable solution providers to differentiate their product range and differentiate themselves from competitors in terms of their market positioning. The breadth of the range, the fact that they are not limited to minimum quantity orders and the total flexibility of our approach are key advantages.” Sky launched its server assembly business unit just three months ago but has already seen significant levels of interest. Offering a three-year warranty on its products, Sky reckons that it can provide a level of customer service and intimacy that A-brand vendors will find difficult to match in the Middle East and Africa. “We are targeting customers across the region,” added Sobhani. “Depending on the volume of business that a customer is doing we will also give them a stock of spare parts meaning that they can provide a high-level of after-sales service to their customers.” “We want solution provides that understand the server business and have experience and an existing customer base as well. This is not about boxmoving for us. It is about providing systems that really allow solution providers to differentiate their offering in the market,” he concluded. Sky is offering a complete range of servers to customers starting from basic entry-level models through to complex solutions. Using a build-to-order model, Sky also gives customers the opportunity to upgrade basic specifications to suit the needs of their individual customers.
