Enterprise-class network acceleration appliance vendor Silver Peak is in discussions with potential Middle East channel partners. The company has already established an EMEA operation led by Paul Gracie, formerly head of Redline Networks in Europe. “We have a unique proposition that gives organisations the ability to deliver local performance across the WAN, this is really critical for the successful rollout and effective use of many web-based applications, and even VoIP, to branch office locations, as well as enabling remote file sharing,” said Gracie. “We are looking to work with partners that appreciate the value proposition and who have the skills to implement our products for end user customers.” Silver Peak claims that its NX series of enterprise-class appliances enable companies to centralise branch office server and storage infrastructure, reducing IT costs and enhancing enterprise-wide data security and compliance. The vendor’s Local Instance Networking (LIN) functionality delivers LAN performance over a WAN for all applications. Operating at the network layer, Silver Peak reckons that its LIN approach achieves scalable, secure delivery for all application types: TCP applications, UDP applications, real-time applications such as Citrix and Microsoft remote desktop, and streaming applications such as VoIP and video. Other appliances only work with certain types of applications, while Silver Peak claims that its solution eliminates the need for point products such as Wide Area File Servers (WAFS), caches and application proxies. “Following our successful launch in the US during September 2005, we are looking forward to helping European companies benefit from our market leading technology that enables companies operating branch office networks to avoid ‘server sprawl’,” said Rick Tinsley, president and CEO at Silver Peak. “This is an exciting market to be in and our products are already benefiting many global companies, helping them to improve their remote office connectivity, security and to reduce ongoing IT and management costs,” he concluded.
