Regional IT and consumer electronics retailer CompuMe is preparing to open the doors of its second UAE store. The firm’s new Mall of the Emirates branch will start trading in seven to ten days’ time, according to CompuMe’s corporate and technical manager, Vojislav ‘voyo’ Ivos. “There have been some delays, both from the mall side and us getting ready, but it will now definitely open within this timescale,” he told ITP.net. “In contrast to our Garhoud ‘destination’ branch, this store should attract a huge amount of passing trade.” Unlike the majority of CompuMe’s stores across the region (in the Garhoud area of Dubai, Kuwait, Bahrain, three cities in Saudi Arabia and Cairo, Egypt), its new Mall of the Emirates branch – based in an area fast becoming known as ‘new Dubai’ – does not offer products and solutions to corporate clients. Instead the team there will concentrate solely on serving consumers. The new store is a franchise operation run by the same owner as CompuMe’s Garhoud branch. “We are slowly transferring all our stores to this type of franchise arrangement, which our limited company takes care of,” added Ivos.
