Intel is making sure its Premier Providers (IPPs) and Channel partners are entering next year primed and ready for action after holding a two day training event for its IPPs and its twice-yearly Intel Channel Conference (ICC) for its Dubai based partners. The conference brought together over 125 of Intel’s channel community to discuss its roadmap for next year, product and platform offerings and overall strategy for continued success. “We are teaching our resellers to sell the platform to suit the customer – sell them the products that they need and suits them best, not necessarily the most expensive or high end. Then they will be satisfied customers and come back to buy Intel again and again,” said Tony Merhej, channel sales manager Gulf Countries at Intel. The day-long conference was followed by lunch and then beach themed team building activities. Resellers at the event had a very enthusiastic and positive response to Intel’s plans for the forthcoming year, and Intel says it passed on a lot of information at the event that will help them to shape their direction and sales in the coming months. “We are looking at what end users want to get out of their PCs. It’s not about a ‘one pc fits all’ strategy anymore, consumers have very different needs and our new platform strategy addresses that. Intel has split into five groups and each one looks after a different sector: mobile, digital enterprise, digital home, channel products group and digital health,” said Nass Nathoua reseller channel manager GCC and Saudi Arabia at Intel. “We’ve brought them up to date about the roadmap, so we’ve been talking about dual core and we’ve bringing them up to the next generation of Centrino technology, which is mobile dual core as well as developments in server dual core,” continued Nathoua. The ICC also announced reseller promotions within Intel, which should prick up the ears of Intel’s distributors, including Tech Data, Mindware and Empa who were also displaying their wares at the event.
