Lexmark has announced that it is planning to open an office in the region, and is looking at a staff of around 18 employees to drive its printing business in the corporate enterprise, SMB and consumer markets. “It is very hard to grow beyond a certain capacity without having your own presence in a region, providing the progress support for your partners and customers. It is also impossible understand your full customer requirements and the unique drivers in a marketplace without having a presence. It makes sense for us to start an operation in Dubai on many levels,” said Mohammed Addarrat, IT practice lead, distribution and logistics at Lexmark International. The new office will be headed by Francois Feuillet, who has previously worked in emerging markets with Lexmark, including French-speaking Africa. Addarrat will join him as channel and retail manager of the operation. The vendor says it is anticipating the go-ahead on its office as soon as there is space to accommodate its team in Dubai Internet City. “I think I can multiply business by five times, not probably in the first six months, but this is certainly an attainable target and one I am aiming at and in line with our investment. We will be investing heavily in terms of payroll in some areas and heavily in terms of cash-out in others. The marketing budget will go to the SMB sector, but we will be recruiting a team of around eight large account salespeople, so we will be pushing very hard to get into the large accounts too,” said Feuillet, general manager at Lexmark International Middle East. Presently Lexmark’s Middle East operation is administered from its Bahraini office, which has a staff of around 10 people. The vendor also has a number of smaller display centres and offices across the region.
