Power retailer Jacky’s has signalled its big plans for future expansion with the opening of its new corporate headquarters at the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The new facility, covering 10,000 square metres, includes a significantly expanded logistics facility. The expanded facility includes a temperature regulated storage area to accommodate products that need to be stored at specific temperatures. Other new features include individual pallet picking, improved racking systems that allow for deep and extra push back storage capacity and an enhanced mechanical operation for faster picking, dispatching, receiving and storage of products. Jacky’s expects the three loading and unloading bays, coupled with improved warehouse management and operations, will enhance logistics efficiency by reducing both time and costs. Jacky’s corporate headquarters in Jebel Ali will assume responsibility for planning and implementing group policies on an international basis. Jacky’s existing office at its Airport Road showroom in Dubai will continue to focus on the regional market. “The Jebel Ali Free Zone is extremely conducive for trade and this location allows Jacky’s to position itself alongside other competitive players in the market,” said Manohar Panjabi, executive director at Jacky’s Gulf. “Over the past 35 years Jacky’s has grown to become a major retailer, wholesaler, exporter and distributor of some of the world’s top brands. One of the main reasons that we have been able to grow as we have is because of our ability to identify and respond to market needs — regionally and globally,” he added. Jacky’s started life in 1970 as a Hong Kong-based mail order business but today has operations in the Middle East, Africa and the Far East. Jacky’s first foray into the retail space occurred in 1988 when the company opened a showroom in Nasr Square, Dubai. Jacky’s now has a network of seven showrooms in the UAE. Jacky’s has continued to diversify its business activities and has set up a number of divisions including internet and CRM services, digital printing and imaging, office automation and IT, mail order and project and relief supplies, visitor management solutions, projects and appliances and corporate sales. The Jacky’s Group now has direct operations in the UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
