Jed Isbell has been named as general manager of ATS, the new IT security consulting company launched by Aptec Holdings. Isbell brings a wealth of experience to the new organisation, offering extensive global and operational experience in supporting and delivering high quality service to customers in the IT and telecoms industry. Isbell has over 30 years industry experience and has held various senior management posts with companies such as BT, Concert and cable service provider UPC. Most recently, Isbell served as senior VP for operations and technology at UPC, where he was responsible for their strategic programmes. Prior to UPC, Isbell served as director of EMEA customer assurance at Concert, where he held executive responsibility for the company’s global IP network and services. His vast experience includes building various 24/7 support centres and managing large technical teams of operational support staff spread across numerous countries. Dr. Ali Baghdadi, CEO at Aptec Group, has reiterated the vision behind the decision to establish ATS: “Users have often relied on unqualified resources or have a level of service thrown in with the hardware or software that they purchase, which is nominally at the expense of their IT security and reliability, alternatively, they had to employ expensive international IT services companies. We anticipate that the percentage of spend on Services in relation to the overall IT spend will significantly increase within the Middle East region and it is a great opportunity for us to launch ATS now.” ATS will offer a comprehensive range of security services including strategic consultancy, security audits, implementation, assessments and outsourcing. The company will be capable of working on behalf of vendors and channel partners. ATS plans to recruit a team of 20-plus consultants during 2006 offering the highest levels of knowledge and certification through internationally acknowledged training programmes. The company is also looking to establish a list of ‘associate consultants’ to complement its core team. ATS offices have already been established in the UAE, Saudi and Egypt with a further facility in Turkey also in the pipeline. The new company will operate as a totally separate entity from Aptec Holdings’ existing distribution business in the Middle East.
