Dell has unveiled a new consumer release in the form of the Inspiron XPS M170 notebook. Aimed purely at mobile gamers, this graphics monster is based upon nVidia's GeForce Go 7800 graphics chip. Although far from cheap, at $2,724, the XPS M170 looks the business and seems set to catch the eye of well-heeled gamers with its 17-inch UXGA widescreen display and the fact that its 7800GPU is the first to be based on nVidia's GeForce 7 Series architecture. This means it is already certified for the latest version of Microsoft DirectX 9 (Shader Model 3.0), which is the base functionality for all next generation gaming consoles and PCs.
