Fujitsu Siemens ramps up regional sales

Fujitsu Siemens’ Middle East and Africa desktop and notebook sales outpaced the overall market growth rate in the third quarter of 2005. The European IT manufacturer boosted its total regional shipments of notebooks and desktops 73.9% year-on-year. Fujitsu Siemens’ notebook sales in the region more than doubled year-on-year to 42,016 units.

Fujitsu Siemens’ Middle East and Africa desktop and notebook sales outpaced the overall market growth rate in the third quarter of 2005. The European IT manufacturer boosted its total regional shipments of notebooks and desktops 73.9% year-on-year to 72,016 units. Fujitsu Siemens’ notebook sales in the region more than doubled year-on-year to 42,016 units. Total desktop shipments climbed 36.1% with Fujitsu Siemens more than doubling its unit sales in Saudi Arabia. Despite the increase in desktop sales in Saudi Arabia, it was not enough to lift Fujitsu Siemens into the top five vendor spots currently occupied by HP, Dell, Acer, DTK and Lenovo, according to IDC. “This across-the-board sales increase highlights our ongoing efforts to develop a clear cut channel strategy to deliver customer-centric, tailor-made IT solutions to the region,” said Habib Bouchrara, VP international sales region at Fujitsu Siemens. “The definition and refinement of a clear and strong channel strategy, coupled with a flexible supply channel, have created increased product supply efficiency and supported our channel partners.” “The development of new, innovative and customer-focused products and solutions has buoyed our market presence and will continue to drive our sales forward and allow us to capitalise on these recent successes,” Bouchrara continued. “These figures fit with current product trends that are witnessing phenomenal growth in the mobility sector for the region. However, our strong showing in the desktop market illustrates the quality of our product and our relationship with the customer,” he concluded. Fujitsu Siemens success in the notebook space and Saudi Arabian desktop market was tempered by a year-on-year decline in its UAE desktop sales. According to IDC, Fujitsu Siemens’ third quarter desktop shipments in the UAE slipped 38.1% year-on-year to 1,167 units.
