Nortel Networks Middle East has kicked off its region-wide roadshow that highlights the latest industry developments in local area network (LAN) technologies. Held in major cities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the two-day event has gathered channel partners and CIOs from some of Nortel’s key enterprise customers to brief them on the future of business-driven networking. “LAN solutions can help organisations upgrade their IT infrastructures to be truly convergence-ready and enjoy such benefits as enhanced power and performance on individual desktops, fast and secure access to new applications, with availability anytime, anywhere. The challenge is of course, setting up a LAN infrastructure that is cost-effective and easy to manage,” says Ramin Attari, vice president of Nortel Middle East. “The roadshow will provide details on the latest developments in LAN networking, IP enabled devices and convergence applications and bring useful insight on how best to plan, build, secure and manage a converged network that meets the business needs of an organisation.” The event will present sessions on network investments and how to build advanced networks with a special focus on security and traffic management. Nortel will also present case studies of European customers that have adopted Nortel’s IP technologies to improve their business processes. For example, Nortel’s IP multimedia solutions allow organisations to increase network application performance and reduce costs by allowing them build on their current telephony infrastructure and expand their networks with IP multimedia capabilities as needed. The vendor says new services allow these organisations to improve collaboration both internally and externally via the most convenient and effective methods - phone, e-mail, instant messaging or video conferencing, used individually or in combination.
