CNN International is mounting one of the network’s largest ever in-depth looks at the region, with a weeklong series of special programmes and daily live reports from Beirut and Amman, Campaign can reveal. Eye on the Middle East is being sponsored be regional telecoms company Investcom, Qatar Airways, Banque de la Mediteranee and Intercontinental Hotels, Lebanon, and is being backed by a major marketing push using outdoor, television, print and internet advertising. The move comes as financial channel CNBC Europe announced plans to broadcast a series on Islamic banking, and BBC World’s decision to report daily from the Dubai Air Show later this month. CNN has also tied up with Lebanon-based Arabic language business magazine Al Iktisad Wal Amal to carry out a survey on people’s views on business, industry, culture and politics. The week long series will have daily reports live from Beirut by CNN International anchor, Jim Clancy and from Amman by Hala Gorani. There will also be special editions of Inside the Middle East, World Report, and a CNN Presents one-hour documentary focusing on the many faces of change in Egypt. In a week that will include live anchored news shows, dedicated programming and special features, CNN’s correspondents report from Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Jordan and Morocco, on the catalysts for change. Eye on the Middle East airs November 21-25 on CNN.
