Dell has unveiled two new photo all-in-one printer devices - the Photo All-In-One Printer 924 and 944 - which are aimed at the region’s home and small office users. The firm’s new 4-in-1 (print, scan, copy and fax) multifunction machines come with 4,800 x 1,200 maximum print resolutions and up to 19,200dpi 48-bit colour interpolated scan resolutions. In addition, both models incorporate PictBridge support for direct printing from a compatible digital camera, plus the AIO 944 also packs in a USB memory key port, memory card slots and a 2.4-inch (63.5-mm) LCD display for enhanced standalone photo printing. The US $109 Photo AIO 924 and $163 tout Dell-quoted print speeds of up to 20ppm in black and up to 16ppm in colour. Both models weigh 9kg (13lb) and have compact footprints of just 436.9mm(H) x 444.5mm(W) x 289.6mm(D). “Home and small business customers are demanding office tools that are stylish and high-performance but at an affordable price,” said Michael Buck, Dell EMEA’s director of imaging and printing. The Photo AIO 924 and Photo AIO 944 additionally offer optional optical character recognition (OCR) software, which allows documents to be scanned and the text then edited using any word processing program. Other software supplied with the machines includes Dell’s Ink Management System, which comes as standard and alerts users when ink runs low.
