SmoothWall signs up first UAE partner

UK-based network security specialist SmoothWall has signed up its first reseller in the UAE, striking a deal with Dubai-based Glow Computer Trading to take its products to market in the Middle East. SmoothWall offers a suite of platform-agnostic firewall, web content filtering and VPN solutions.

UK-based network security specialist SmoothWall has signed up its first reseller in the UAE, striking a deal with Dubai-based Glow Computer Trading to take its products to market in the Middle East. SmoothWall offers a suite of platform-agnostic firewall, web content filtering and VPN solutions. Globally, more than 40 resellers have signed up for the SmoothWall partner programme since its launch in August 2005. The vendor is targeting 150 new resellers worldwide by the end of 2006, doubling its existing channel breadth in the process. “Although firewall and VPN sales grew 4% worldwide in the second quarter of 2005, customers are becoming increasingly cost conscious,” said George Lungley, managing director at SmoothWall. “SmoothWall enables resellers to maximise their sales growth by adding our fully-featured yet cost-effective network security products to their portfolio.” “Because SmoothWall is a software solution, resellers have no inventory costs and they can provide their customers with as many evaluation systems as needed,” he added. SmoothWall claims that its partner programme addresses the needs of multiple partners ranging from individual security consultants right through to enterprise-focused value-added resellers. Each partner level carries defined sales targets, discounts and training requirements for technical and sales staff. SmoothWall has included a base partner level for individual consultants that do not meet the criteria for bronze partner status but wish to receive technical and sales support. SmoothWall reckons that its products provide a sales entry-point and that by supplying hardware and co-branding the solution deployed, resellers can provide customers with an effective security system and create an ongoing management, support and maintenance annuity revenue stream.
