Siemens Homes and Office Communications is hoping to turn the homes of Middle East internet into high-performance hotspots through the launch of its new Gigaset WLAN Devices. The firm’s Gigaset SE551 WLAN DSL/cable wireless router, USB Adapter 108, WLAN Repeater 108 and Gigaset PC Card 108 products are designed for use both in home and small office environments and were developed to make setting up and using a wireless local area network (WLAN) a quick and painless process. Mr. Paul Reitmeier, president of Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices, visited the Middle East recently after what the firm calls a “very successful sales order” from the region. “The world of the Internet is becoming more colorful and diverse with each passing day,” he said. “Siemens high performance broadband technology offers our consumers the ultimate online multimedia experience”. Siemens’ Gigaset SE551 WLAN DSL/cable wireless router offers transmission rates of up to 108Mbit per second and includes an integrated firewall to help protect the user’s network from unauthorised access. The Gigaset WLAN Repeater 108 meanwhile extends the range of a wireless network, in addition to offering full service WLAN base station (access point) functionality. As for the USB Adapter 108 and PC Card 108, these turn any non-wireless PC or laptop into a WLAN-ready device. Pricing details will be forthcoming shortly…
