Although Ramadan is traditionally a quiet time of year, Dubai distributors are adamant that they want to get the fourth quarter off with a bang, urging their resellers into action by dangling some rather juicy sales incentives in front of their noses. Its promotions ahoy this month and there’s much to be won, including trips to the world cup, holidays in Greece and of course, the usual mega bundling to clear post Gitex stock. Distributor Logicom is teaming up with Microsoft, giving its resellers the chance to make it to the World Cup finals in Germany from June 29th to July7th 2006. Resellers are set the simple task of shifting SBC OEM products, and hitting targets guarantees places. Resellers need to get their shooting boots on and score US$75,000 in sales to get tickets to the quarter-final, US$150,000 for the semi-final and US$300,000 to get seats at the final. Also up for grabs from Logicom and Microsoft is a trip to Cyprus. Any reseller doing over US$2000 of business on selected Microsoft products is entitled to a draw ticket for a two-person luxury break in Laranca. Products include Windows XP home or professional and Office system SBE or professional purchased at the SBC OEM pricing level. Resellers are limited to seven coupons maximum. Also laying on an impressive array of offers is Aptec. The distribution powerhouse is keeping up morale during this difficult month by running offers on all of its stock. Rotated every two days, resellers will have to be quick on the uptake, but in a marketing blitz, the distributor has hired three promotion staff to hand out 1,500 leaflets daily, detailing the next day’s offers. Offer leaflets will be handed out to Computer Plaza, the Khaleej centre, Musalla Towers, Computer Plaza Deira and of course the whole of Khalid Bin Waleed Street, from Ramada to the Shindaga junction. Offer examples are: Acer Veriton 7700GX & 3700GX desktops: Purchase 30 units and get an Acer 20"LCD TV Free, purchase 50 units and get an Acer 26"LCD TV free, or purchase 100 units and get an Acer 32"LCD TV. Hard drive vendor Western Digital (WD) is also announcing the extension of its Arctic Circle promotion to distributors as well as resellers. Channel partners qualify by earning ‘ice cube points’ based on the number and capacity of the drives that they sell. WD has also announced its winners of the promotion in the third quarter, which included Prince computers and Future Technology of Dubai.
