HP unveiled its new imaging and print hardware range last night, with a focus on colour devices aimed at business users at all levels. “Colour printing now plays a pivotal role in any business: to meet this demand HP is proud to introduce an unparalleled line-up of colour printing systems that deliver innovation, quality and value,” says Amr Hassan, general manager of HP Middle East’s imaging and printing group. The new products include workgroup colour laser printers, multifunction devices and inkjet colour printers. HP claims its new OfficeJet Pro K550 inkjet offers the lowest printing cost per page of any printer in its class, at up to 30% lower per page than colour laser printers under US$600. The K550 can produce up to 33 pages per minute (ppm) in colour, and 37ppm in black and white. An A3-capable version of the printer – the K850 – is also available. HP also showed off its Color LaserJet 4730mfp, a multi-function device aimed at medium-sized workgroups. It includes printing, scanning and copying capabilities, with sorting and stapling functions, and fax capabilities on selected models. The 4730mfp, like its printer-only sibling the Color LaserJet 4700, offers print and copy speeds of up to 30ppm. It can hold up to 1,600 sheets and includes access controls to specify which users can print in colour. Other devices included the DeskJet 460 Mobile, a portable printer which includes Bluetooth and wireless network (802.11) capabilities, and the OfficeJet 5610 multifunction device, which offers 6-colour printing with optional cartridges.
