Al Sayegh Brothers, a master distributor for hardware vendor LG in the UAE, has boosted its mobile entertainment product portfolio as the company looks to make further inroads into this fast-growing market segment. “Today, widespread use of mobile entertainment by a number of age groups, particularly teens and young adults, has proven beyond doubt that this category is an important segment of the consumer electronics market,” said Shahzad Ahmed, marketing director and head of retail at Al Sayegh Brothers. “We want to feature as strong contenders in this market as this is in line with our overall marketing strategy as well as forming the core of our future focus on entertainment retail,” he added. Al Sayegh has boosted its MP3 and media player portfolio with the addition of two new products from LG: the LG MF-HE700 portable multimedia entertainment solution and the LG MF-FE410 compact MP3 player. As well as its relationship with LG, Al Sayegh Brothers also works with a string of other vendors including Sharp, Olympus and Aiwa. Outside the UAE, Al Sayegh Brothers has business interests in Qatar and Morocco and is also active in terms of redistribution, retail and re-export across Africa. “According to IDC, the global MP3 player segment will generate an estimated turnover of US$58 billion by 2008,” continued Ahmed. “The research makes clear that these are considerable revenue generating opportunities to be leveraged by companies offering products in this segment.” “Technology is no longer seen as a business oriented necessity, consumers in the Middle East have embraced digital technology and are focusing on the benefits and value lifestyle products can add to their busy schedules,” he added. “To keep pace with the changing consumer trends, Al Sayegh Brothers will be focusing much more on these products as we want to enhance the consumer experience with new products that improve lives,” concluded Ahmed.
