Motorola has named Margaret Rice-Jones as its corporate vice president and general manager of its Core Networks business. Rice-Jones' former position as corporate vice-president and regional manager of Motorola Networks of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) will be taken over by Jose Figueroa, who will continue as the corporate vice president of Motorola Networks, Latin America and Caribbean Region. Core Networks is a newly aligned business within Motorola Networks that covers communications technologies for both wireline and wireless operators and is key to Motorola's Seamless Mobility vision and architecture. Rice-Jones will be responsible for profit and loss performance of the business including the strategic planning, development engineering, handling third party relationships, product management and customer support. "Core network solutions must go beyond traditional legacy switching and address multiple access technologies, data and video and multimedia requirements. We have made and continue to make key investments in our core portfolio to ensure that we have the right solutions for an evolving telecommunications environment, says Rice-Jones. “As a point of convergence, the core enables seamless mobility from an infrastructure perspective. I am excited about taking on this new role and building on our current momentum."
