The National Bank of Kuwait’s (NBK) IT network is to be given a new lease of life with the adoption of Microsoft’s BizTalk server. NBK announced last month at Gitex that it would be adop-ting BizTalk as the main in-tegration platform for its core systems as part of its business transformation programme. BizTalk, an enterprise appli-cation integration (EAI) solu-tion, will enable NBK to au-tomate its business processes and modernise its full suite of banking applications. “NBK has put forth an aggressive vision for growth and expansion in the Middle East region,” said Fadi Che-hayeb, chief information officer at NBK. “We work hard to keep in line with new technologies and new banking ideas to serve the growing needs of our customers. As one of the largest banks in the region, we realise the importance of using the latest technologies in our busi-ness processes,” he claimed. Chehayeb added that NBK had considered a number of different alternatives before set-tling with BizTalk but the fact that NBK was already a Mi-crosoft customer had swayed its decision. The new application will allow NBK to speed up its banking processes and allow them to offer new services to their customers, he claimed. “While our current systems are running efficiently, reliably and securely, we have set up to modernise our enterprise in-tegration platform as well as many of our existing core ban-king and business applications. The new integration platform and core banking applications will allow NBK to speed up its time-to-market with new pro-ducts and services, and allow it to offer them with the greatest efficiency and reliability through multiple channels, including its internet banking, mobile banking and messaging services,” he said. The implementation of Biz-Talk is expected to be com-pleted by 2007. Omar Dragmeh, sales mana-ger for Microsoft Kuwait said: “Microsoft has been instru-mental in bringing about suc-cessful technologies change at NBK and many other banks and financial institutions across the region. Our EAI solutions make us a key player in the financial sector and we are committed to supporting its growth.”
