Private companies, Omani World Holding Company and production firm, Sabco will soon be awarded licences by the country’s Ministry of Information to create their own television and radio stations. Sabco intends to set up a radio station in Muscat and another in the district of Zhafar, further to the south, reported the state news agency ONA. Last year, Oman’s ruler, Sultan Qaboos signed a media law that allowed the granting of licences for television and radio stations in the country, provided the companies were owned by Omanis.
