Vislink signed a US $1 million plus deal at IBC with Jordan Media City. The agreement will see Vislink supply a number of fixed earth stations for the new 4-series Arabsat satellites. The first of the earth stations will be operational on Arabsat 4A and will begin commercial operation with three television streams. It is capable of uplinking five streams — two of these as standby channels. “JMC already uplinks over 100 channels using our gear and we have provided them with similar solutions in the past,” says George Koumblis, Advent, UK. “This, once again, will be a turnkey project. We will manufacture the entire system in our factory. A 7.6 m antenna will also have to be assembled on site.” The main challenge in this project, however, according to Koumblis, is the tight delivery time. “The system transmitting to the satellite has to be on air on December 1. Also, because of the size of the antenna, it needs to be transported by sea. Additionally, it will take about four weeks for the installation of the equipment at the site and commissioning. But we have handled such tight deadlines before and will be able to meet this one as well,” confirms Koumblis.
