UAE-based IT service solutions provider, Main Computer Services (MCS), is marking its third visit to Gitex with the unveiling of its ‘one-stop’ laptop repair service, which the company claims is the first-ever to be offered in the region. According to MCS, the laptop repair service covers a wide range of major PC manufacturers from Acer to Zenith and is a replication of the UK’s successful laptop repair service web site — www.laptoprepair.co.uk. The company is confident about the success of its online repair service, as customers have already been using it in its non-web related form. “Many UAE laptop users have already been using the service since 1998. The growing demand from other Gulf countries also persuaded us to start this service for all GCC countries with more value-added services such as free collection from anywhere in the GCC. Since the number of laptop users is growing considerably every year, we expect demand for this service to grow as well,” says Azmat Kamal, sales and marketing manager of MCS. When asked how customers would benefit from the regional laptop repair service, Kamal says: “As compared to a manufacturer’s repair costs, our estimates usually offer a more cost effective option and we provide free diagnostics and written estimates too. We are also the only company that provides an on-line repair and shipment tracking facility in the region.” Another advantage, according to the company, is that its customers can reduce the number of suppliers they deal with. This, in turn, helps streamline the repair process. According to the firm, its repair service is very simple to use. Users first need to visit www.laptoprepairs.ae and fill out a form with details of the laptop problem. Within 24 hours, MCS will contact the customer and send a repair estimate. Next, the customer will have to fill in a collection request form and MCS will collect the laptop from anywhere in the GCC. After receiving the customer’s written approval of the quotation, MCS will then repair and send the unit back to the customer with a six-month repair warranty. Although MCS has many competitors in the region, in the form of manufacturer-authorised service centres, its claims that these generally only support their own products sets and services to a modular level. This limits their support to units under warranty. In addition to repairs, MCS also provides annual maintenance contracts (AMC) for small, medium and large private and public organisations. The firm also plans to launch an Arabic version of the service in the region next month. To attract customers to its service during Gitex, MCS is offering customers a 10% discount on the estimated repair cost. The company is also showcasing its on-site support services in addition to a wide variety of WAN and VOIP solutions.
