Specialist storage vendor Imation plans to dazzle all at Gitex this year with its full line of storage devices. This covers a wide range of products including flash drives, optical media organisers, and even next-generation tape drive hardware. "We will focus on our USB2.0 flash drives primarily, which are available currently with capacities of 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB and 2GB. We've also just launched a new 4GB version at Gitex," says Riyaz Abdulla, manager sales and marketing MEEA, Imation Middle East. "We will also be promoting the Disc Stakka, an optical disc storage product capable of storing 100 discs in each unit, which can also serve as a disc library manager too. These products cover the business-to-consumer segment. For business-to-business side, we are showing our SDLT2 and LT03 tape back-up products based on Exabyte Hardware." The company is keen on showing off its B2C products too, as it believes these make life much easier for those that purchase them. To showcase this, Imation is allowing visitors at the trade show to run through live product demonstrations of the Disc Stakka and USB flash drives at its booth. Imation also expects its SDLT2 and LT03 tape products to be an instant hit, as the vendor claims that these are among the first such products to show up in the region. The SDLT2 offers up to 600GB of storage capacity, while the LT03 offers 400GB of native space. The vendor reckons these products will be best used in small and medium sized businesses, as more and more firms realise the need for back-up hardware. The firm is also running promotions with the help of its partners. These kicked off alongside the trade show and Imation hopes these will spur brand-pull in the retail channel. Imation firmly believes that Gitex provides an ideal opportunity for it to meet with its partners and mingle with end users to discuss present and future technology. "It is a very good platform for reinforcing our presence in the market place," says Abdulla. "It's also a good occasion to launch new products while also enabling us to strengthen relations with our channel partners. In view of brand building, it's an exceptional opportunity to expose our brand at a wide IT spectrum and position ourselves as one of the strongest companies in the respective business in the Middle East market."
