Conglomerate giant Al Tayer Group has announced the upgrading of its enterprise applications to the latest version of Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software suite. The Oracle JD Edwards’ Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system will support all 36 of Dubai-based Al Tayer’s businesses, which include the automotive, engineering, fashion, interiors, contracting, cosmetics, publishing, real estate, and travel and logistics sectors. The upgrading of the system, which has been used by Al Tayer since 2001, cost under US$100,000 and took just over four months — a daunting task admitted Evan Powell, Al Tayer Group’s general manager for IT. He said “Because of the size of the organisation we knew that upgrading on this scale would be a challenge. It was a very complex thing to do as we had 1,500 processes to test and a huge amount of data.” “But it ran very smoothly and we had a very successful upgrade,” he added. Al Tayer’s investment in the ERP system is aimed at helping the management to streamline Al Tayer’s finance, logistics and warehouse management processes. The conglomerate has also chosen to upgrade EnterpriseOne because of the customer relationship management (CRM) solutions it offers. Mr Powell said: “We trust the new Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.11 solution to provide even greater flexibility and corporate visibility across the entire business.” Ayman Abouseif, managing director of Oracle Gulf States, said: “It is a solution which is ideally suited for organisations that manufacture, construct, distribute, service or manage products or physical assets.” “Furthermore, in the past two years, there has been significant product enhancements to the system, with more planned in the future.” he added.
