Sony Ericsson has been showcasing the full strength and depth of its IT and mobile communications offerings at Gitex this week. Its show-stopping stand saw Sony Ericsson presenting a variety of new ranges, all illustrated via a wall of Sony flat screen television. “Sony Ericsson has developed an extensive range of IT and mobile phone products that address the information, communication and entertainment needs of today’s consumers,” says Husni Al-Assi, general manager, Sony Ericsson Middle East and Africa. “From the simple and practical to the most feature-packed mobile phones and PC cards, Sony Ericsson offers consumers unparalleled choices,” Al-Assi adds. Among the new lines being presented at the Sony stand is the SE J210i mobile phone. Designed for every day use, the J210i makes life easier by mixing practical ergonomics with a simple, intuitive interface. The slim design incorporates a large keypad with joystick for easy navigation, and a bright 65K colour screen. What’s more, users can supplement calls with SMS text and MMS picture messaging. Sony claims it is marketing the Z520i at stylish, young women. The set comes with a clamshell design and a variety of high tech features, including a VGA camera that can take pictures or video clips whether the phone is open or closed. The camera lens is on the same side as the external screen, which acts as a reference viewfinder. When the phone is open, the 1.8” TFT display shows the full resolution pictures. Images can be linked to contacts, shared around locally using infrared or Bluetooth, or sent as an MMS message. Raising the bar for camera phones, according to Sony, is the K750i offering mobile telephony and digital camera functionality. It comes with image management PC software, which enables users to create multiple photo albums, add effects, share, view, and print with impressive quality. The K750i also has a fully featured digital music player, which is loaded with current hit songs, as well as Sony Ericsson’s proprietary PlayNow technology for quick and easy music tone download. For high-end mobiles, Hall 4A is the smart choice.
