During its first participation at Gitex 2005, Eset, a global provider of security software solutions for enterprises and consumers, offers NOD32, a unified anti-virus and anti-spyware solution that protects against e-mail and internet threats through its ThreatSense technology. Eset’s CTO, Andrew Lee is present at the exhibition to explain why NOD32 Antivirus is more than an ordinary protection solution. “The software is a proactive product which can protect the user from new threats immediately. There is no need to wait for updates,” says Lee. Another advantage is the software’s capability to operate at speeds of up to fifty times faster than regular solutions. Lee claims the software’s speed and high performance are some of its key features. “When you install other products you notice that they’re slower. Its high performance technology means that you’re protected with our content update,” he states. The solution’s development took 15 years and the company is now enjoying the benefits. Windows Middle East Magazine, after examining the six most powerful antivirus packages in the region, has awarded the Best Performance Award toNOD32 for two consecutive years. The publication regarded the software as specialist at picking up recognised as well as unrecognised threats. “We make sure that we’re ahead in terms of dealing with the threats that are out there and continue to do so. We want the user to get the best protection.” Lee says. The product has also obtained a certification for Spyware Detection. “The NOD32 antivirus system provides its customers with the highest ROI in the industry because of its unparalleled record of detection and extremely low resource usage,” says Lee. These factors lead to increased user compliance, decreased downtime and eventually higher productivity. The software has the most advanced heuristics in the industry and detects more than 88% of all new infiltrations prior the signature code updates. To its commercial clients, NOD32 presents Enterprise Edition along with Remote Administrator. It offers protection at a wide range of platforms (Windows, Linux, Novell, DOS). Lee believes that convincing people to change is not an easy task; however, so far, whoever the region has welcomed the new solution because of its features and competitive pricing. “It is now available in the Middle East through a number of NOD32 partners. At the present time, the company targets Dubai’s market, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and generally the GCC countries,” he adds.
