Taiwanese exhibitor, Microtek is promising rich colours and clear imaging from its new range of plasma screens, being introduced to the Middle East at Gitex this week. The Microtek MHP1 42” display offers a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 1500nit brightness and comes in 16:9 widescreen. Microtek manufactures the unit except for the screen panel, which comes from Samsung. “The MHP1 has an in-board tuner, so it can be used as a television or as a digital display,” explains Terence Koh, sales manager, South Asia Pacific region, Microtek. “We are currently looking for regional distributors for the plasma screens,” he adds. The company is also promoting its range of scanners, digital video cameras and projectors, all of which are on display at the Microtek stand in hall 5, a stand marketing manager, Melvyn Tay says the company was lucky to get. “Last year we couldn’t get space at Gitex, and this year we were on the waiting list. This is now our second time to the show in three years,” Tay explains. “Gitex provides us with more opportunities to target our Middle East customers, and it is fair to say that we expect our business to expand here.” Microtek representatives travel to the region to promote the brand on a regular basis. The company also works with Layout Middle East, as distributors for the whole of the GCC.
