Gitex novice Alterbox, a provider of communication and messaging solutions and services, is highlighting the latest features of its core offering, AlterUM, at the weeklong event. Key enhancements of the product include a new push technology, which allows notifications about new messages almost in real time with mobile or wireless access to those messages, and Arabic language support. AlterUM is a next-generation web-enabled messaging platform that is composed of several components meant to provide value-add to any service provider’s offerings. It supports any message channels and any device. “AlterUM allows fixed-mobile convergence and creation of various messaging value-added services such as web-enabled voicemail, fax, e-mail, calendaring, and multimedia album,” says Kruno Martinovic, business development director, Alterbox. Currently, Alterbox is deploying a fixed line SMS centre solution and a web-unified messaging service for Qatar Telecom. It hopes to expand its market base in the region, and Martinovic believes that being at Gitex will help it achieve that goal. “We would like to meet in person some of our potential new customers that have already established contact with us. At the same time, we want to create new leads and find new local partners who will be willing to represent us in their respective countries,” Martinovic says.
