Regional IT distribution powerhouse Redington is showcasing its full range of products to resellers from across the Middle East and Africa today. Representing a number of major vendors including HP, Acer and Canon, Redington is hoping to attract both existing resellers and potential new customers to its stand. “Appearing at Gitex allows us to display the latest products from the vendors we represent and also increase resellers’ understanding of the services that Redington can offer them,” says Mathew Thomas, senior vice president at Redington. “It is also an opportunity for us to meet potential new vendors.” Redington’s operation spans the Middle East and Africa and the company posted annual sales in the region of around US$280 million for 2004. Expanding its reseller breadth even further remains a top priority for the distributor. “Redington does not yet have a direct presence in the Levant, so Gitex allows us to meet up with potential partners and resellers from the region,” Thomas says. Gitex remains a critical period for Redington with the month around the show typically contributing 20% of annual sales for the company. Thomas remains upbeat about the overall health of the Middle East and Africa IT markets. “We are currently very optimistic for a number of reasons,” he says. “All the major economies are doing extremely well at present. The market in Saudi Arabia, where Redington already has a strong presence, is currently very strong and has a good project pipeline.” Redington is displaying a range of new notebook models from its major vendor partners on its stand. The distributor also has a presence on Toshiba’s stand, promoting the fact that it holds distribution rights for the vendor in Bahrain and Qatar. Gitex attendees visiting Redington’s stand will also be able to learn more about its role in distributing HP desktop PCs, assembled at the vendor’s plant in Saudi, across the GCC. Working closely with HP, Redington has taken on the role of Logistics Service Provider, supplying the business-focused desktops to other HP Channel Development Partners across the GCC region.
