Psion Teklogix is showcasing its latest vehicle mounted computer — the 8525 terminal — during its Gitex debut this week. The company, which pitches itself as a solutions provider for mobile computing and wireless data collection, will also be touting its new warehouse facility. “We have just set up an office in Dubai and soon we will be moving into a warehouse facility at Jebel Ali Free Zone, so we feel it is an ideal time to promote our goods and to give us the exposure that we need,” says Cleo Delos Santos, marketing, Psion Teklogix. “We have brought a range of equipment to the show, including some handheld terminals and base stations, so that companies and future clients can look at what we have to offer. However, the latest product we have is the 8525 terminal.” The terminal, which is based on Windows CE .NET and Intel Xscale architecture, has been designed to provide mobile data collection in a range of environments and industries like ports, warehouses, cold stores and airports. It can also be configured to operate in intense and cold environments, protecting it against dust, water sprays and temperatures as low as -30°C. “The data collection environments of our customers are extremely demanding... Because of this, the flexibility and durability of our products is key,” says Thierry Beclin, director of product management & marketing, Psion Teklogix.
