Graphics card vendor Sapphire technologies has some hot new releases at Gitex today, but at the time of going to press the firm was keeping its aces firmly up its sleeves. “We are planning something special for Gitex, a big new release. We like to go all out for it at Gitex every year. Our stand always attracts attention, because of our demonstrations and of course, the giveaways,” says Mohammed Ibrahim, regional manager at Sapphire. Sapphire says its stand is even more impressive this year, due to the inclusion of its ‘Crossfire’ graphic processor technology, which comes from ATI. The vendor has the cards up and running on the stand, so visitors can get a more hands on experience. “The way the graphics cards translate the actual games is incredible, we do a lot of split screen demonstrations and we will have the cards running for everyone to experience themselves. Attracting people to your stand is the most important part of the show, it’s what you are there for, so we put a lot of effort into devising ways of attracting people. We have been preparing for the show since June,” Ibrahim says. Also available for the first time through Sapphire will be ATI Xpress 200 motherboards. Sapphire maintains the show will not all be fun and games though, as it is the best opportunity for some serious networking in the calendar. “We are looking for new partners, particularly in the North Africa and Levant regions. This is a part of it, but the most important thing for us is to support our existing partners. We like to be on hand to meet and show our support face to face. It is more important to look after your existing partners than to go looking for new ones. You have to nurture the relationships you already have,” says Ibrahim. “I think Gitex is new every year. Every time we display it gets better. It is the Middle East’s best opportunity to get business and to meet new partners. Gitex is the biggest one and Sapphire will be there in full force with our partners ATI and newly signed Al Yousuf distribution,” he adds.
