Computer Associates (CA) is pulling out the party poppers on its stand in the Sheikh Rashid hall as the management software powerhouse celebrates the first birthday of its dedicated Middle East subsidiary at this week’s show. Showcasing a wide range of integrated storage, security, and network and systems management solutions, visitors to CA’s stand today can see firsthand the technologies that have been deployed by 95% of the Global 1000 companies and adopted by leading enterprises across the region. “Since launching our direct operation in September 2004, we have invested millions of dollars to ensure that our customers and partners benefit from CA’s solutions and technical expertise,” says Gilbert Lacroix, VP and general manager for CA in the Arab countries. “We are excited to share our successes in the first year of operation with customers and partners at the show this week and we are especially grateful for the confidence they have shown in the quality of service and support that has been achieved in such a short period of time,” he adds. CA is launching a range of flagship solutions, products and programmes this week, although exact details remained under wraps at the time of going to press. However, the CA team has confirmed that, for the first time in the Middle East, it is showcasing a fully functional Network Command Centre (NCC), which demonstrates how CA solutions in security, storage and network and systems management fully integrate in a real-world enterprise environment. “CA is going all-out this week to bring its most advanced solutions and technologies to the region,” says Ned Jaroudi, regional marketing director for CA in the Arab countries. “Customers, partners and the media will have an opportunity to see all of CA’s latest solutions at work through the NCC, the first ever of its kind by CA in the region. We are also hosting a number of partners on the stand who will showcase how their offerings complement CA’s.” CA’s commitment to the Arab world and the importance of the region in a wider Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) contect is not in doubt. During this week’s show, a number of CA EMEA executives, including the regional general manager, senior VPs and key directors, will be putting in an appearance. During the last year CA has ramped up its regional operations at breakneck speed, scaling up its headcount from zero to 100, opening up its regional headquarters in Dubai and injecting several million dollars into Saudi joint venture XECA to provide implementation support and managed services to customers. CA now has seven offices in the region: Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Lebanon is also home to CA’s support centre, which offers 24x7 assistance to both channel partners and customers in Arabic, English and French.
