Systimax updates its non-specialist Guide To Networks and Connectivity

Systimax Solutions has released the latest version of its non-specialist Guide To Networks and Connectivity, last released in 2000. The guide, aimed at non-technical individuals with responsibility for networking, discusses strategic as well as practical considerations for network managers. It does not detail specific products, but talks about trends and topical issues in networking and connectivity. “As a global market leader, it is appropriate for Systimax Solutions to assist those who need to be aware of the issues surrounding connectivity, particularly with such rapid advances taking place in computing, technology and communications. It is in everyone’s interests that robust, reliable networks are created with the right type of cabling infrastructure to provide a high communications performance,” says Dominic Morris, regional sales director MENA at Systimax. The guideline discusses, among other things, the need for networks, how they should be configured and how they should be installed – and by whom. It also explores the role cabling plays in creating successful networks, examining the different types of cables, their longevity and cost of ownership. It covers issues that include interference (known as crosstalk), fire prevention, wiring for mobility and intelligent infrastructure management, while explaining standards and the different cable categories. With new bandwidth-hungry applications and technologies appearing all the time, planning a new network can be extremely important in allowing an organisation to develop over time. Many applications now require bandwidths of 100Mb/s or 1Gb/s, and future applications are likely to increase bandwidth demand exponentially. Many networking firms are developing products and solutions to address this demand for bandwidth, with multiple-Gb/s speeds on offer. Systimax itself has launched Gigaspeed X10D, offering a speed of 10Gb/s.
