Arab Media Group’s two compact newspapers, which are to launch tomorrow, will be called Emirates Today, Campaign Middle East can reveal. Ending months of industry speculation, Abdullatif Al Saygeh, CEO of the Arab Media Group, publishers of the newspapers, confirmed the name of both dailies at a press conference this morning. Al Saygeh said that the pagination of both newspapers, which currently stands at 48, would be increased within “two to three months”, and hinted that further daily supplements could be added to the newspapers down the line. Currently there is a female-targeted glossy magazine on Friday’s called etc. for the English paper and Hala for the Arabic edition. Priced at AED2 (US$0.55c), the launches will be backed by a considerable advertising and promotion campaign, which will include chances to win exotic holidays and airline tickets. The AMG boss said the circulation numbers of both titles would be “transparent” and invited interested parties to visit the newspaper’s presses to verify the company’s claims.
