BI for Boeing

Boeing selects Cognos business intelligence (BI) solutions for enterprise-wide reporting.

The Boeing Company has signed a multi-year agreement with Cognos for business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management software. The global manufacturer will use Cognos’ enterprise BI solution, including Cognos ReportNet, to provide common business reporting as part of an enterprise-wide business intelligence initiative to be utilised within Boeing commercial airplanes, integrated defence systems, shared services group, and Connexion by Boeing. The Boeing Company provides products and services to customers in 145 countries and is the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners. It is also a global market leader in military aircraft, satellites, missile defence, human space flight, and launch systems and services. “Business intelligence is one of our forward-looking strategies for information management. We have chosen Cognos as a standard because of its capability in support of our strategy”, says Alan Johnson, director of Boeing information management for Boeing IT. Boeing joins the list of leading global organisations that utilise Cognos performance management solutions to enhance their operational effectiveness. “Boeing is engaged in some of the most complex, challenging projects ever undertaken and is a company that demands precision, high-quality, and mission-critical performance from its suppliers and IT solutions,” explains Rob Ashe, president and CEO of Cognos. “Cognos performance management solutions allow organisations like Boeing to address the many challenges they face both in analysing massive volumes of business information and driving that information across the enterprise.” Cognos ReportNet, which is fully integrated with the Cognos Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) series, offers a complete web-based report and query-authoring environment. Designed to scale to hundreds of thousands of users, the solution draws on Cognos reporting and query leadership to deliver the next evolution of reporting.
