Software developer and distributor Platinum is expanding, setting up a regional office in Dubai as well as unleashing Russian anti-virus software Dr Web in the region. Having recently won the Middle East distribution rights for the Dr Web software, Syrian based Platinum is eager to kick start its regional operation and has already signed two distributors, Network Information Technology and New Vision System, who will both supply the software across the Middle East. “We have worked very closely for a long time with Dr Web, but we are taking the source code and giving it a new face. The user interface of the original Russian Dr Web is not very user friendly and we want to update it, as well as translate it to be the first anti-virus software available entirely in Arabic,” said Mounes Kayyali, CEO at Platinum. In addition to distributing Dr Web software, Platinum also develops network devices and computing security software. The company would also eventually like to introduce these products to the region. Platinum is looking for suitable premises in Dubai to establish its regional office. Rami Kayyali, vice CEO at Platinum, will head the Middle East operation. “I will work from Dubai building up the Dr Web brand and enhancing the Platinum name and we will add more staff as they are needed. We think Dr Web is one of the very best products available in the market and it is of fantastic quality and value. We will be marketing it at both home and businesses users,” said Rami Kayyali. Platinum’s latest signing, Network Information Technology has been distributing out of Dubai since 1995 and has a regional base of between 15 and 20 resellers across the Middle East. The full list of countries that Platinum has the rights to distribute Dr Web in is Syria, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt.
