Dubai Transport Corp-oration (DTC) has awarded an AED51 million (US $14 million) contract to Dubai-based project management company, Edara, to manage its new headquarters. “The project has a one year time frame for completion,” Adel Lootah, general manager, Edara told Construction Week. He said that Edara has around AED10 billion ($2.7 billion) worth of projects in hand, with work on phase two of the Green Community already having started. The new headquarters building will have three stories along with an open car park, and will have a built up area of about 12 635 m2. The agreement is the latest in a long line of high profile projects that Edara has undertaken, which include the Commercial Bank of Dubai, Emirates Bank International, Dubai Investment Park, Movenpick Hotel and the Green Community. Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, director-general of Dubai Transport Corporation, said: “The idea of the new head office of Dubai Transport Corporation came into existence as a result of the expanding operations of the corporation, the increasing number of employees and the increasing growth of its fleet. Moreover, the corporation will be offering various services to the public and now the various departments of the corporation will be housed under one roof.” He also mentioned another project that has been awarded to Edara, which will be located in Al Qusais. But a spokesperson for Edara said that further news on that project would be announced in due time when confirmation was received from Dubai Transport Corporation.
