Dubai Internet City (DIC) will be running its ‘Community Zone’ for the fifth consecutive year at Gitex 2005. Over 36 members of DIC will be present in the area, part of the free zone’s Partner Support programme, which pledges to provide members of DIC with a platform to enable them to gain better visibility than they would achieve if they were to exhibit by themselves. DIC will be trying to attract companies from around the world that are looking to tap into the emerging markets of the Middle East and Africa. To tempt them, DIC offers a range of benefits to members. “DIC offers a business ecosystem that nurtures and supports the development of IT companies,” says Baiju Francis from the corporate communications department at DIC. “The DIC offers 100% exemption from taxes, 100% ownership, 100% repatriation of capital and profits, no currency restrictions, easy registration and licensing, a sound framework of cyber regulations and protection of intellectual property,” she adds.
