Intel has confirmed its intention to move to a new office at Dubai Internet City. The chip giant, which currently operates a Dubai-based office overlooking the city’s creek, expects to make the move into its new home by the end of 2005. Dania El-Kadi, PR manager Middle East and Africa at Intel, said: “Intel does intend to move its Dubai office to DIC. We are in the final stages of concluding the move and expect it to happen by the end of this year.” Intel had been one of the few remaining major IT vendors not to succumb to the allure of DIC. However, with more and more IT companies deciding to locate their regional headquarters at DIC, the attractiveness of joining this growing community grows. “We think that now is the right time to make this move because so many other companies that Intel works with are located at DIC already — not just hardware vendors, but software vendors as well,” explained El-Kadi. Intel would not confirm whether it was moving into a brand new building or taking over office space from an existing tenant at DIC. Vendor alliances are becoming increasingly important in the Middle East markets as IT companies introduce increasingly sophisticated joint go-to-market models in the region. Even in the age of remote working and constant communication, there is still a great deal to be said for face-to-face contact. As DIC pulls in more and more vendors, the attraction of joining this burgeoning community also climbs.
