IP telephony player Mitel says its growth outpaced that of its competitors in enterprise IP telephony sales in the Q205. The vendor cited research from Synergy Research Group to back up the claim. According to Synergy’s report titled Q2 2005 Enterprise Voice Market Shares, Mitel enterprise IP telephony sales grew 20% sequentially, faster than the growth rates of Avaya, Cisco and Nortel in the past calendar quarter. This was driven by strong sales of Mitel’s LAN Telephony Call Server shipments, which grew 46% sequentially. “Mitel’s continued and significant investment in the development of our solutions is yielding strong results in the marketplace,” says Don Smith, CEO Mitel. “Companies implementing Mitel’s IP Communications solutions represent a range of industries of all sizes. Our introduction in July of Release 6 of the 3300 ICP is the most significant increase in our addressable market to date and allows us to continue the momentum we are experiencing particularly in larger enterprises,” he explains. The report also says that Mitel continues to maintain its market leadership in the small and medium business market (SMB). According to the Synergy report, the company’s Q2 sales in the low and mid-tier markets were in excess of four of its competitors combined: 3Com, Shoretel, Sphere and Vertical.
