Tejari is ringing the changes, with Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi standing down as CEO and the online marketplace promising to launch new services next month. Al Qasimi, who is now the UAE’s minister for economy and planning, stays with Tejari as a member of its board. Her replacement as CEO is Omar Hijazi, who brings in an impressive CV to the post, having extensive experience on e-marketplaces overseas. More recently he had already served as a consultant to Tejari, where he helped design the blueprint for Tejari’s expansion into new services and overseas markets. The company will unveil its long-term strategy next month, which will see it offer a number of new services as well as entering some new markets.
