Regional distribution powerhouse Almasa has announced that it will host a ‘Channel Emporium’ from September 25th to 29th 2005 at Emirates Towers, Dubai. The event, which coincides with Gitex, will allow Almasa to talk channel strategy with its reseller base as well as existing and potential vendor partners. “While providing sales support to our valued resellers at Gitex Shopper, we will be taking the time to meet with all our channel and vendor partners in a calm business environment at our own space at Emirates Towers,” said Parvez Ahmed, sales and marketing director at Almasa. Almasa is even putting on a free limousine service to whisk Gitex visitors from the Dubai World Trade Centre to the Channel Emporium event at Emirates Towers in air-conditioned comfort. Almasa traditionally uses the Gitex period to meet all of its Middle East channel partners and vendors to discuss previous sales results, set objectives for future sales and agree on joint go-to-market promotions. Almasa will have over a dozen of its senior executives on hand at Emirates Towers to meet and greet vendors and resellers. Gitex remains a strategically important event for the regional IT channel as it prepares for the fourth quarter — traditionally the strongest sales period of the year. “The local IT industry is always extremely active in the fourth quarter of each year and technology sales show a sharp increase over Gitex. Almasa will be taking special care to work with its partners to remain focused and driven,” added Ahmed. Almasa plans to offer strong support to resellers appearing at Gitex Shopper this year and will work closely with them to extend credit lines where necessary. “Perhaps one of the major areas where we offer support is in the area of warehousing and logistics,” explained Ahmed. “At Almasa IT Distribution we recognise that our resellers have a higher turnover of fast moving products during Gitex and to support this we offer increased facilities to ensure that our partners never reach a stock-out situation.”
