TNT Express has appointed Taha Al Harazy as country general manager, Saudi Arabia, for its TNT/SAB Express operations. The first GCC national to attain this level of seniority within TNT, he will be based in the company’s Jeddah offices. “Taha joins us with a wealth of experience and industry knowledge within Saudi Arabia, which will help further develop our business and geographic reach within the Kingdom,” said Mark Pell, managing director, Gulf &Saudi Arabia, TNT. “This appointment also underlines our commitment to both the Kingdom and the region and is the most visible demonstration yet of our support for the country’s Saudisation drive,” he added. As part of TNT’s Saudisation recruitment, Al Harazy’s role will be to recruit and train Saudi nationals in order to meet the target of a local employment rate of 35%. “We have already made headway in this regard, with Saudi nationals currently accounting for 31% of our 200 strong Kingdom-wide workforce,” said Pell. As well as helping to boost Saudisation recruitment, Al Harazy will begin his role by investing in new facilities and infrastructure, as the express company plans to open four additional retail outlets across the Kingdom by the year end. Additionally, Al Harazy also hopes to improve Saudi’s Middle East road network by reducing transit time by up to 50%.
