Sun Microsystems has scheduled a partner awards ceremony for its top performing resellers at a ‘Partner Sales Corner’ event. This will be held in the Maldives in association with Sun’s regional channel development partner, Tech Access. The Partner Sales Corner will take place on the 7th and 8th of September at the Kurumba resort in the Maldives. This is a bi-annual event from the hardware software and services vendor Sun. It will include seminars focusing on developments in the regional storage market, software updates, news about Sun’s education programme, and the unveiling of its Galaxy server family. “Strengthening ties with partners and expanding Sun’s presence in the rapidly growing and diverse Middle East and North African region — especially in the fastest developing sectors such as banking and education — remains at the top of Sun’s agenda,” said Chris Cornelius, recently appointed managing director at Sun Microsystems Middle East and North Africa. A number of resellers have already signed up for the event, which will also give them the opportunity to interact with a number of global Sun partners such as iPanto, Huawei, Business Objects, Hitachi Data Systems, Engenio, Navlink and Citrix. Pierre Brunswick, regional sales director CIS, Russia, Middle East and Africa at AMD will deliver the keynote speech at the gala dinner and awards ceremony held on the first night of the conference to highlight new developments in Sun and AMD’s hardware alliance. “The partner sales corner is the ideal networking opportunity for Tech Access to ensure that channel partners from emerging markets are armed with the information, skills and tools necessary to effectively provide customers with the right solution at the best price ratio from Sun’s portfolio,” said Shomail Ghalib, CEO at Tech Access. “Partner responses to recent technology have been overwhelming. The sales corner gives us an opportunity to share recent successes with partners and update them on emerging Sun technologies,” concluded Cornelius.
