Saudi Telecom’s Sami Mulla has joined CyberGuard as vice president of the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) region. Mulla has been tasked with delivering powerful IT security solutions to the largest organisations in the Middle East. Mulla will report to Mark Reese, CyberGuard’s chief operating officer, and will be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. “Middle East organisations take information security very seriously and they thoroughly evaluate solutions to deliver the best protection,” says Pat Clawson, chairman and CEO of CyberGuard. “This market condition combined with the breadth of our offering has enabled CyberGuard to develop a strong presence in the Middle East. Sami has the experience and market knowledge to continue to aggressively grow our presence in the Middle East, and we are pleased that he has joined our management team,” he adds. Mulla previously served as general manager of Information Security for Saudi Telecom Company (STC), one of the largest telecommunications firms in the world. In this role he was responsible for implementing a wide array of technologies, directing the development and deployment of strategic conceptual models, driving strategic direction, policies and plans, and establishing business models for information security management. “This is a tremendous opportunity to join a company with strong technology, a vision for the future of information security, and a growing list of brand-name customers around the world,” says Mulla. “My experience and knowledge of what is required to address the needs of the largest Middle Eastern organisations should benefit CyberGuard as we continue to grow our presence in the region,” he adds.
