Aimed squarely at mobile business types, the S7020 series is accompanied by a range of modular options, allowing frequent travellers to create a notebook that best fits their needs. The modular bay system on offer enables mobile workers to opt for a wide range of devices such as CD/DVD/CD-R/RW drives or a multi-format, dual-layer DVD writer. If battery life is considered a potential bugbear, users can also opt for a second battery, which means the notebook can, according to FSC, “be used practically all day”. “We are really excited to be launching the Lifebook S7020, because it further extends our leadership in the high-end notebook segment,” said Susanne Lewitzki, product marketing manager, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “We have spent a number of years perfecting production techniques to enable us to offer customers the widest possible choice of features for their notebooks. We believe that the new functionality we offer in the Lifebook S7020 gives customers the most choice in the market place.” The new Lifebook is based on Intel’s Pentium M Processor generation and 915GM chipset. In addition to its traditional interfaces such as USB, a separate PCMCIA ExpressCardT slot has also been included, along with a PC card slot, enabling the Lifebook S7020 to support both existing and future notebook technologies. Using Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ built-to-order and made4you customising service, the firm claims it can build notebooks that exactly meet any customers’ requirements, thus ensuring a longer life-cycle. The S7020 series comprises three models, all designed with differing 14.1-inch display types (XGA Glare, Non-Glare and SXGA+) to reflect the various needs of mobile workers. Last but not least, Intel PRO/Wireless Wireless LAN and Bluetooth V1.2 technology are included, letting workers stay in constant touch with their office.
